The KSOG-Mombasa was formerly the Government Training Institute (G.T.I.) Mombasa, one of the training institutions under the Ministry of State for Public Service, in the Office of the Prime Minister.

The Institute was established as Coast Secretarial College in 1964 as a Pre-Service Secretarial College.  It was upgraded to Government Secretarial College in 1972 to provide secretarial skills training to clients nationally.  In 1978, the Institute was upgraded and renamed the Government Training Institute, and mandated to provide management development training for Public Sector Organizations.  On 1st July 2012, Government Training Institutes Mombasa, Embu, Matuga, Baringo and Kenya Institute of Administration, became campuses of Kenya School of Government through an Act of Parliament.

Overtime, the school has diversified its objectives not only to offer in-service training but also conduct Research and offer Consultancy services to the public sector.  The Institute has progressively contributed towards performance enhancement and service delivery in the public sector.

In order to assure quality in service delivery the Campus embarked on a certification process that culminated in being ISO 9001:2008 certified with effect from 29th June 2012.

Part time Courses

Currently the institute offers the following programmes on part time basis:
1.Diploma in Information Technology module 1,2,3 Examined by KNEC
2.Computer Application Packages.
3.Short hand upgrading Courses.Examined by KNEC.

Programs

The institute offers a diverse range of programs categorized into:

  • Long term programmes ranging between six months and one year.
  • Short courses between one week and below six months
  • Seminars and workshops

ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFICATION

The Institute was ISO Certified with effect from 29th June, 2012.  Kenya Bureau of Standards conducted all the necessary Audits and found the Institute’s Quality Management System as conforming to the ISO 9001:2008 Standards and therefore licensed and certified us in respect to “Training, Research and Consultancy” Services.
